TYPES OF VEGETABLE OIL
SOY, CANOLA, PALM, SUNFLOWER
Vegetable oils are essential products in food, industrial and energy supply chains. Their versatility allows them to have multiple applications, from cooking to the manufacture of biofuels, cosmetics, lubricants and pharmaceuticals. The international trade in vegetable oils is a pillar of the global agro-industrial market, influenced by climatic, technological and geopolitical factors.
Main Types of Vegetable Oils
Soybean oil (soy):
Derived from soybeans, it is the most produced and exported vegetable oil in the world. It is used for both human consumption and biodiesel.
Palm oil:
From the fruit of the African palm (Elaeis guineensis), it is the oil with the highest yield per hectare. It is widely used in the food and cosmetic industry.
Sunflower oil:
Highly appreciated for its mild flavor and high content of unsaturated fatty acids. It has high demand in Europe, especially in countries such as Spain, Italy and Germany.
Canola oil (race):
Obtained from specific varieties of low rapeseed in erucic, it stands out for its healthy profile and stability for frying.
Other relevant oils:
They include corn oil, saftur oil, coconut oil and peanut oil, used in specific niches or specific regions.
